Boiled eggs, by method

A pot of water isn’t the only way. Every method here has its own physics, its own times, and its own pre-set timer — pick the appliance you own.

Water and steam

Appliances

Choosing between them

Quick router: most control over the yolk — stovetop, because the timing is exact from a visible moment. Easiest peeling — steamed or Instant Pot; steam attacks the shell membrane harder than water does. No pot to watch — air fryer. Living above 3,000 feet — Instant Pot, since pressure cancels altitude out, or any method plus the altitude adjustment. Six eggs for meal prep — any of them; remember the count changes the return-to-boil wait, never the cook time, and they’ll keep about a week in the shell.

Every method, one timer

Switch methods inside the timer itself — it swaps to the right times and steps automatically.
